About IPE
The Institute of Political Economy (IPE) administers the Master of Arts in Political Economy with specialization in International Relations and Development (MAPE-IRD) program of the University of Asia and the Pacific. IPE also teaches the courses that constitute UA&P’s Citizenship Curriculum in the undergraduate program of the College of Arts and Sciences. These are PS102-Philippine Society and Culture, PS103-Philippine Politics and Governance, and FOS102-Political Thought. IPE is also involved in various research and extension projects related to the political economy of international trade and finance, globalization and governance, and development and underdevelopment, among others.
Degree Program Master of Arts in Political Economy The only one of its kind in the country, the Master of Arts in Political Economy Program offers a specialization in International Relations and Development in order to prepare students in an increasingly interdependent world and to help them appreciate how this environment shapes human and social development. It adopts a multidisciplinary approach to the study of social problems and issues, using analytical tools and methods from Political Science, Economics, History and Sociology.
Research and Publications IPE publishes the Roundtable, a quarterly newsletter and forum that provides updates and in-depth analyses, commentaries, and perspectives on contemporary issues. It serves as a vital link of the Institute to the University community.
